Johnstown Football Club is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a substantial grant from the Fit for the Future / Environments for Her programme, delivered by the Cymru Football Foundation (CFF). The funding will support the refurbishment of the changing rooms facilities at Maridunum Playing Fields, the proud home of Johnstown Football Club.

The project will see the much-needed transformation of facilities that have served the community since their original construction in 1984. This investment marks a key milestone for the club as it looks to ensure a sustainable future both on and off the field.

Since the appointment of a new leadership committee in July 2025, one of the committee’s key priorities has been to modernise and improve the club’s infrastructure to meet the needs of today’s players and supporters. A particular focus has been the creation of inclusive and welcoming facilities for girls and women, whose participation in football continues to grow across the club (Under 8's to Senior level).

Speaking on behalf of the club, Club Chairman Ryan Evans said “we’re incredibly grateful to the Cymru Football Foundation for their support through the Fit for the Future and Environments for Her programme. This investment allows us to bring our facilities up to modern standards, ensuring that players of all ages - and especially our female teams - can enjoy a safe, accessible and inspiring environment for years to come.”

Thanks to the timing of the award, refurbishment work will now be able to be completed before the end of the season ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The club would also like to extend sincere thanks to all members, volunteers and committee representatives who contributed to the successful grant application - particularly those involved in preparing the documentation and liaising with the Cymru Football Foundation.
