Chairman’s Open Letter — 2025/26 Season

Dear Players, Parents, Supporters and Members of the Johnstown Football Club Community,

As we prepare to kick off the 2025/26 season, I would like to begin by offering heartfelt thanks to two people who have given so much to our club over the years. Our outgoing Chairperson, Rose Evans and Secretary, Llinos Thomas, have both been instrumental in building the foundation that Johnstown Football Club stands on today.

Their tireless dedication has not only helped us maintain our FAW Platinum Accreditation, but also led to the successful introduction and development of a full girls’ and women’s section – an achievement that has transformed the club and broadened opportunities for players across the community. On behalf of everyone involved with the club, thank you both for your outstanding service.

A Personal Commitment to the Future

Taking on the role of Chairman is a great honour for me. My journey with Johnstown began many years ago as a minis player during the club’s very first junior football season, and like so many of you, I’ve grown up with the club being a big part of my life. Now, with the support of a passionate and committed committee, I am proud - decades later - to give back to the club that gave me so much. Together, we’re determined to lead Johnstown into a new era of growth, inclusion, and community success - building on solid foundations and striving for excellence in everything we do.

Continuing the Momentum

The 2024/25 season was one of our strongest in recent memory, with success across the board - from our youngest age groups to our senior teams. We saw fantastic development on the pitch, greater participation off it and a real sense of community pride. Now, our aim is to kick on and deliver even more - investing in our players, coaches, and facilities and, for me personally, continuing to nurture a culture where respect, resilience and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do.

Join the Team Behind the Teams

As we continue to grow, we need more people behind the scenes to help make things happen. If you're a parent, former player or someone who wants to give back to local football, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Whether it’s joining the committee, helping to organise events, leading a team, supporting coaching sessions or assisting with admin, we’d love to hear from you. The more hands on deck, the better. To express your interest, please get in touch via our Contact Us page. Even the smallest contribution can make a big difference.

Membership Fee Update

We’ve worked hard to keep football affordable and accessible, and for a number of years, we’ve kept our annual membership fee at £120. Unfortunately, due to rising costs and inflation, we have had no choice but to increase this slightly. For the 2025/26 season, the annual membership will be £140 per player.

We want to be completely transparent: 100% of this fee is reinvested into the club. It helps us cover vital costs such as:

We understand this change may affect some families, and we’re committed to supporting anyone who may need help. If you'd like to discuss payment options or financial assistance, please contact us in confidence, or speak to your age group coach.

Celebrating Our People

Our club doesn’t run without the dedication of volunteers. A massive thank you to all our coaches, team managers, helpers, kit washers, fundraisers and first-aiders - you are the heartbeat of the club.

We’d also like to give a special mention to our club sponsors, whose support is now proudly displayed across our new club website. If you are aware of a business that can help us on our journey, we’d love to discuss with you!

Looking Ahead

This season marks the start of a new chapter for Johnstown Football Club - one built on tradition but focused firmly on the future. With your continued support, we will remain a club that brings pride to Johnstown, develops great footballers and helps shape confident, respectful young people.

The future is incredibly bright, with early discussions already underway for a special celebration to mark the club’s 30th anniversary - a milestone that reflects decades of community spirit, development and passion for the game. Alongside this, we’re exploring plans for significant improvements to our facilities at our home in Johnstown, aimed at creating a more modern, accessible and welcoming environment for players, families and supporters alike. These initiatives represent our long-term commitment to not only growing the club, but also safeguarding its legacy for generations to come.

Here’s to another fantastic year, both on and off the pitch.
